Hi! I’m Kelsey Grimes and I am the Reading Intervention Specialist at Yucca Elementary School. I grew up in Minnesota. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Mankato State University, MN. In 2007, I acquired my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction specializing in reading from Grand Canyon University. A teaching job brought me to Kingman, AZ in 1994. I taught at Manzanita Elementary for 21 years. During my time at Manzanita, I taught Kindergarten, Multi-age (K-1-2) and 3rd grade. After my adventure at Manzanita, I moved on to another one at Little Explorers Early Learning Center. There is where I taught developmental Kindergarten for 7 years. I am so excited to begin my journey at Yucca Elementary!
My husband (Dave) and I have been married for 28 years. We have three grown children (Brittany, Brandon, and Matt). We also have two dachshunds (Oliver and Millie), two cats (Max and Sophie), and a tortoise (Tortellini). In my spare time, I love to travel, spend time with my family and friends, bake/cook, and do crafts.
I am deeply committed to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. I am looking forward to building strong relationships with the students, creating a safe space where they feel supported and motivated to succeed, and to develop a lifelong love for reading.
